Rainy Dreamy Days
Today begins with the sound of three sets of busy bustling little boy feet. They have so much energy from the very second they wake. I would consider myself a morning person but this kind of energy takes that term to an all new level. The two oldest boys are home from school today which usually means a very busy day in the great outdoors but today is day three of torrential downpour! I must pull something out of my hat quick to keep everyones mood cheery. Pancake breakfast party!!! (If I put the word "party" on the end of anything the boys are game) That should buy me some time until I think of the real plan. Now bellies are full of homemade pancakes and organic bacon, dishes are done and syrupy faces are cleaned and we load into the van. Our dreary day turn into something dreamy and unexpected. Firstly we visit a near by organic farm for eggs. Normally this is just another chore but today the farmers were brushing their stunning work horses. The boys giggle with excitement in their seats. They adore horses. After a quick hello we are off again to another local favourite, the butcher shop. These boys are so well known, as soon as we walk in the ladies slice them freshly made turkey bologna and cheese. We love shopping local for this very reason. We rarely hit a major chain store. Back to the story.... I grab a coffee and start driving with no real intentions. I think about an adorable rustic shop in the country close to our house. I can always use another delightfully scented candle right??! This place only sells their own scent and it's AMAZING! Warm, cozy and slightly sweet. I'm in love with this smell. We follow the road to the glowing angel fence and the boys giggle again, they know. We turn down the long driveway lined with dense pine trees. It's dark with whimsical gardens and such, then the forest clears and snuggled beneath the trees is a cabin adorned with twinkly lights. It seems so magical on a dark day. Almost like something out of a fairytale. The boys reveal in each seasonally decorated room. "I love halloween!" squeals one, " SANTA" whispers another. We come across a bucket of umbrellas for all to use for walking the stores outside grounds. We explore every inch of this dreamy place. Whimsical artwork everywhere, a small art studio with tea and cookies for the guests and lots of puddle jumping. We leave with our new candle and big smiles. Our dreary rainy day turned into pure dreamy magic.
